by Kerala State Electricity Board is an Indian public sector undertaking under the Government of Kerala. Established in 1957, the board generates, transmits and distributes electricity in the state under government monopoly. Incorporated on 14th January 2011, the KSEB started operation as an independent company with effect from 1st November 2013. Over the past 59 years the board has witnessed tremendous growth. From a total installed capacity of 109 Mega watt to an installed capacity of 2823 megawatt, transmission and distribution networks of over 10404 and 272480 so cute kilometres, the KSEB is undergoing an exponential growth. The Kerala State Electricity Board provides its service to over 1 crore consumers in rural and urban areas.
Throughout these years there has been significant changes in the input cost structure and revenue composition. Until the recent past the major portion of the energy requirement was contributed by the hydroelectric power plants. Since the promulgation of the forest conservation act in 1980 there has been a control in implementing new hydroelectric projects due to which thermal energy had to be generated to meet the increasing demand. The peak demand in the state has increased to almost twice the off peak demand. As a result of which there is more investment in the power system. To meet the increasing demands we have to purchase thermal energy from outside the state.
The board has been supplying electricity at the lowest price in the country due to which they had to resort to heavy borrowings to meet the increasing expenses. The Kerala State Electricity Board aims to provide infrastructure facility, concessions and reliefs to other sectors like industry agriculture and more on. Recently the State Commission has insisted the board to perform strictly on commercial considerations.KSEB has launched an official app for customers which host a lot of features. This includes a personalized My account for registered consumers, quick pay facilities for payment without registration, New user registration, View/ Edit already consumer profile, Managing up to 30 consumer numbers in one user account and many more.

Consumers can now check the bill details for the past 12 months and download it in PDF format. The consumption details and payment history of the past 12 months will be available in the app. Bil details can be viewed and paid using credit card, debit cards and internet banking. Notifications alerting the bill due date, payment confirmation will be provided in the app. To avail this app you require a smartphone with Android operating system and an internet connectivity. This electricity bill calculator is intended for calculating electricity bill amounts based on the units consumed.
